Meet William Twumasi

William Twumasi was born in Ghana and grew up in Ireland, where he developed a love for athletics. With a natural talent for soccer, William moved to England at the age of 14 to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional athlete. However, an injury forced him to reconsider his path, leading him to turn his focus toward a different kind of goal—the dream of entrepreneurship.

Determined to chase the "American Dream," William moved to South Lake Tahoe, California, where he attended the local community college. For two years, he worked hard to gain the education and skills he needed to succeed in a new country. After graduating, William decided to take a leap of faith in himself and in God, betting on his vision for a brighter future.

A Journey of Faith and Resilience

William’s journey was anything but easy. He faced homelessness, hunger, and moments of deep uncertainty. Yet, through it all, he kept his faith strong and his enthusiasm high. He credits much of his perseverance to the mentors and people who believed in him, even when he struggled to believe in himself. These individuals not only guided him but also became more than friends—they became family.

Among those who profoundly impacted William’s life was his mentor, who saw potential in him and took a chance on his dreams. This mentor’s belief in William was unwavering, and they provided invaluable coaching, endless calls, and, most importantly, love and compassion. Their support was a beacon of hope and encouragement during the toughest times.

William also had the privilege of meeting another influential mentor who deeply shaped his outlook on generosity and faith. This mentor taught William that true happiness comes from giving with an open heart and that God's gifts to us are always the best, regardless of our shortcomings. This philosophy became a cornerstone of William’s values and his vision for Ordae.

The Birth of Ordae


The creation of Ordae’s logo and name is a story of divine inspiration and personal struggle. During a particularly challenging time, when William was ready to give up and return home, he remembered his mother’s words: “Junior, open your Bible when you are knocked down to your knees and humble yourself; that is when God shows up.”

Desperate and at a crossroads, William picked up the Bible from his coffee table and randomly opened it to Isaiah 40:31. The verse, which speaks of renewal and strength, sparked a lightbulb moment for him. He envisioned an abstract eagle—symbolizing strength and resilience—as the logo for his brand.

The next challenge was finding the perfect name. William spent months searching for a name that would reflect empowerment and light. His quest led him to the words “orenda” and “addae.” Orenda, a term from the Iroquoian languages, represents a supernatural force that empowers individuals, while Addae signifies light and energy in various cultures.

Combining these elements, William derived “OR” from Orenda and “DAE” from Addae, creating the name “Ordae.” This name embodies the brand’s commitment to empowerment, light, and strength.

The Power of Community and Giving Back

William’s journey would not have been possible without the support of these mentors and the many others who believed in him. Their kindness and guidance inspired William and his family to give back in a meaningful way. To honor their commitment to helping others and to demonstrate their gratitude, William and his family decided to start an orphanage in Ghana.

The decision to create an orphanage was deeply personal for William. He and his family were driven by the loss of his older sister in Ghana due to unforeseen circumstances. Her passing was a profound reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of providing opportunities for others. The orphanage was established as a testament to their dedication to creating a healthier, more hopeful future for children in need.

The orphanage stands as a symbol of William’s commitment to giving back 10% of their efforts to those less fortunate. It’s a reflection of the values that shaped his life and a way to honor the memory of his sister by making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Through this initiative, William and his family aim to provide not just shelter, but a nurturing environment where children can thrive and have the chance to reach their full potential.
